September 08 - Movello nominated for another national award
Leading Docklands Estate Agency, Movello have been shortlisted for another National award following their shortlist in 2006 for Best Use of Technology, Best Marketing in 2007 and winner of the bronze award for Best Lettings. August 08 - Movello tops £10,000,000
The value of property let out by Movello in the last four weeks has topped £10 million according to Lettings Manager Wayne Lewis. “The last four weeks have been our best since Movello started in 2005. Our Corporate Department has been the most successful, tying up deals with employees from some of the biggest firms in Canary Wharf with prices ranging from £250pw up to the penthouse at Alaska Building which was recently let on a company let for £1,450pw. We have strived to offer the best service to our clients, both landlords and tenants, in order to make them feel special when renting an apartment through Movello. This is paying off and many of our clients are recommending us to friends and colleagues at the same time as using us again themselves. We have a particularly large requirement from one of our corporate clients over the next two months and will be needing a range quality docklands apartments. Our client has up to £100,000 per month to spend on 40 apartments. 1 and 2 bed apartments are required from £350pw up to £750pw for short lets".

July 08 - Corporate let season off to a flying start
August to October are traditionally the busiest time of the year for corporate lets in Canary Wharf as banks take on new recruits for Autumn. Although recruitment is down due to the credit crunch there are still a number of banks looking for corporate accommodation for both new recruits and senior executives relocating from abroad. Traditionally relocations agents are used to find suitable accommodation for senior employees but more and more companies are going directly to agents such as Movello that specialise in Corporate Lets with dedicated experienced staff. The expectations of senior staff are high and apartments need to be in the best locations and furnished to the highest standards but the rewards for landlords can also be high. Some executives use the apartments on an infrequent basis since they are regularly travelling and may return to a European home at weekends. Executives are also now looking at Docklands fringe locations such as Capital East, demonstrated by a recent Movello corporate let of the penthouse at Alaska Apartments for £1450 per week. June 08 - Foxtons admits copyright enfringement
We knew our property photography was second to none and clearly our competition believe this too! Following the discovery that Foxtons had been lifting photographs from the Movello website for publication on their own website, the threat of legal action was enough for Foxtons to admit their mistake and have settled out of court. Foxtons have now removed the copied photos, have agreed to refrain from copying our photos in future and have paid licensing fees for the period that our photos were displayed on their website.
May 08 - Short Lets
Traditionally there has been a simple choice for companies with accommodation requirements in Canary Wharf - Long lets (6 months+), short let serviced apartments (more expensive than long lets but include utility bills and cleaning) and hotels. A relatively new addition to the mix is the growing market for short let apartments. The market is not restricted to Canary Wharf. Movello recently let 6 apartments at Capital East in the Royal Docks to a well known Canary Wharf bank who were bringing overseas staff to London. The staff would traditionally be put up in hotels for up to a month while they were undergoing their training. The bank worked out that by taking 6 apartments instead of 12 hotel rooms they would make a significant saving at the same time as offering their staff much more spacious accommodation for their stay in the UK. The most popular type of apartment for short lets is new build apartments close to public transport. If you are a landlord who has recently completed on a new apartment, the option of renting short term can be very attractive. Short term rents are traditionally 50-100% higher than long term rents. Estate agents fees for short term lets are higher but this is more than made up by the increase in rent. This really is a win win situation. April 08 - Best choice for tenants
We are now moving into the busiest time of the year for the Docklands lettings market and early indications are that tenants will have the best choice of apartments available. Despite a number of Canary Wharf banks announcing job cuts there is still significant demand for good quality rental property and the available stock is up on last year thanks to the completion of a number of new developments over the last year. Notable additions to the docklands property market include:
Ontario Tower – Studio,1 and 2 bed apartments next to the very popular New Providence Wharf Development.
City Tower – 1,2 and 3 bed apartments walking distance to Canary Wharf
Elektron – 1 and 2 bed apartments opposite Blackwall DLR station and walking distance to Canary Wharf
Capital East 2, Westgate and Oxygen – 1,2 and 3 bed apartments next to Royal Victoria DLR station, very close to the bars and restaurants at Excel.
The old favorites such as Discovery Dock, West India Quay and Millharbour are also still proving popular but are going to be given a run for their money with some of the development completions coming up over the next few years. Pan Peninsula looks set to raise the bar for luxury living in Canary Wharf and has led other developers to compare themselves to this development. Other additions such as the Landmark, Icon, and Baltimore Wharf aren’t far behind. We will also see the development of Canary Quarter over the next few years along with Lanterns Court and some very exciting developments at Silvertown Quays. Looking to the Docklands fringes, Greenwich is going to be a big growth market over the coming years as well as Bow and the fast developing rental market in Stratford. The Docklands rental market has clearly developed as an established residential location and is continuing to become a destination location for tenants from all over London.
March 08 - New Recruits
Wayne Lewis and Christina Jorgensen, both from Foxtons Canary Wharf, have joined Movello as Lettings Negotiators. The Movello lettings team is now stronger than it has ever been and is more than making up for the slow sales market at the moment.

November 07 - Movello wins prestigious National Estate Agents Award
Following a glittering Awards Ceremony in central London, Movello were named one of the best lettings agencies in the country. The National Estate Agent of the Year Awards, supported by the National Association of Estate Agents, are the pinnacle of the industry. As well as winning the Bronze award for best lettings agency, Movello were also shortlisted for the award for Best Marketing Campaign for the launch of Movello Magazine.
The judges commented "Innovative, professional and ethical, their ethos has always been 'To Be The Best', and this award shows they are well on their way there".

September 07 - Francesca Tizzard and Emma Wooding join Movello
Francesca joins Movello following a very successful career with some of the leading names in the London property market including Felicity J Lord and Keatons. Having lived in the Docklands most of her life she also brings extensive local knowledge and enthusiasm for the area.

February 07 - Movello completes Barrier Point penthouse sale in three weeks!
Following a multi agency instruction at Barrier Point, Movello secured an asking price offer and then worked with solicitors and mortgage brokers to complete the sale in three weeks. Following fierce competition from rival agents, Movello has been invited to market a £1.2 million docklands penthouse. The 2500sqft property sits on the 16th and 17th floor of the Tradewinds Tower in E16 and has panoramic views of the river and Thames Barrier.
January 06 - Movello is chosen to feature in the BBC series "Homes under the Hammer"
Angus Edy, Movello Managing Director, has been chosen to carry out a valuation on a Docklands property for the BBC TV series "Homes Under the Hammer". The property was purchased earlier in the year at auction and is currently being refurbished by the owner. Angus said "it was an honour to be asked to appear in the show and I hope we pick up the instruction once it's finished". The show is due to be aired in the summer.
